Hogo Diamond Teams go from 4 to 1 in a matter of hours

Only Patrick Henry's softball team remains after the Pioneer district took three out of four over Hogoheegee teams last night.

Chilhowie's baseball team couldn't hold on to a late one run lead and fell to Bath County in the first round of the Region C tournament for the second time in six years.

James River's baseball team flexed it's muscles as the Pioneer District's season and tournament champ by ousting George Wythe out of contention with a 7-3 win.

Abbie Rexrode pitched a complete game shut-out to nail down the Northwood Panthers 4-0 in the first round of the Region C Softball tournament.

And then there was the girls from PH - "The Last of the Hogoheecans". Up against a team with a less than impressive record, Patrick Henry managed to squeak out a 1-0 victory over Pioneer runner-up Craig County. Life doesn't become any easier for the Lady Rebs as they are slated to face last year's Group A runner-up, Glenvar. The Highlanders (18-4) shutout visiting Fort Chiswell 8-0 in the first round of the Region C tournament - Patrick Henry will need to score more than just 1 run to defeat Glenvar. In fact, it would be preferable if the Rebels scored more runs than Glenvar altogether - that is how PH has defeated most of their opponents thus far this season. One notable fact, PH hasn't allowed a single run since the end of their regular season.
